Polyantha Roses

They are characterized by number of flowers on the top of their shoots, forming a bouquet. The sizes of the plants vary within wide limits, so the lower ones should be planted to the edges of the bed, while the higher ones are good for hedges or beside fences and walls en masse. They are also good in mixed flower beds, if planted separately. You can be sure that they will bloom in strong waves all over Summer, covering the plant by flowers, if they are pruned in time after the previous wave.

Climber and Rambler Roses

These high growing rose varieties present beautiful display by climbing to walls, fences or pergolas. There are two main groups of them. The extra high growing sports of the ordinary shrub roses are called "climbers" and they grow slower and lower then the "ramblers" which ar the real climbers of the rose family. Climbers behave similar ways to their original variety, they are repeting well, while Rambler grow faster and even above 3 metres, but some of the old varieties bloom only once a year.
There is an important rule when we take care of them. If we let the shoots to grow straight upward, we shall end up with a bare stem and the flowers will be high, on the roof. The shoots should be guided horizontally to and fro when they are strong enough, but not too hard. The roses are not real wines, so they cannot climb without support and it is neccessary to tie them up to the support.

Standard (high-stemmed) Roses

Several of the above mentioned varieties are suitable to grow as a standard rose. The difference from the shrub version that the variety in question is not budded directly into the root-stock, but into a stem grown in advance, at 90 cm. This way the beautiful flowers are always at the level of our sight. If you were about to keep only one piece of a certain variety in your garden, it is the best choice, since you can cut even the grass at its stem without any trouble by a lawn mower. The pruning needs of a standard rose is determined by the nature of the variety, but usually it ois adviced to keep the spherical shape of the crown. There are so-called weeping varieties, when we can abandon the above rule, since they are producing nice arching shoots. Our firm tries to supply the widest possible range of these high quality standard roses in all colours.
