The construction of two hothouses, which had started previous years, was finished this Summer. The aim was to provide us a facility, which makes us possible to supply blooming roses, rooted into plastic pots, above the bare-rooted and root-packed roses, all the year round. Most of those who bought potted roses this summer, during the XIIIth Rose Festivities, at our shop, took the products of the test run home.

The test run was successful from the point of view of the quality of the products and we have learned to find the proper parameters of the automatic systems for successful production. The equipment worked fine! So, we decided to fill up the hothouses, after we had finished to send out the last shipments in December, in order to be able to supply blooming, rooted plants in the Spring Season of 2012. One of the two hothouses, built next to each other was filled up only with roses. Since the latest bred roses are tried for production in pots, it was obvious, that we should use the varieties of our main partners. So, 42 varieties of Meilland, 86 varieties of Poulsen, and 29 varieties of Kordes forms our range of potted roses.
We use two different plastic pots for the roses. The greens are 2 litres ones, while the black ones have 3 litres of volume. The quality of the roses, grown in the pots, represents the same quality as our roses produced in the conventional way, so they fulfill or even exceed the expectations of the European Standard. It is the well-established "quality of Szőreg" with numerous thick branches. We enlarged our range of Kordes varieties by 11 new introductions, which arrived earlier and they grow on their own roots. They have produced foliage since.
Some space was left for the standard roses, budded at 60 cm unlike the conventional ones. They grow in 6 litres pots. The same side houses fruit tree graftings and some ornamental trees like standard Prunus trilobas in 10 litres pot.
